The Google algorithm change carried out last night (24/04/2012) worldwide, I think there will be shaken more than one SEO! It seems that Google has declared war on a massive scale to the exact keyword domains (ex www.keyword.com), since such domains are those who, for the most part, use the SEOs ,Blackhat or simply money sites . Clearly sooner or later this would happen. I did not think it would happen so "good." This morning I woke up, and have seen the list of all my websites and the rankings of all them. In total I have over 120 websites including online stores, affiliate sites, adsense sites and some other trash ... I have found that 50% of the websites I have with exact keyword in the domain, have suffered a loss position. Sometimes only 2-3 positions, but in others to go down to the 2-3 page. On the contrary, I have also been surprised that almost all the websites that are a "mark" instead of a keyword, have increased positions so bestial. It is still early to draw any conclusions about the algorithm change, as I now Google will update the next few weeks adjusting and fixing some small bugs. So no one can says that this is already the final rankings. Also, do not believe that this algorithm has already reached all the keywords for serps .. but if it has reached several of the niches in which I move. But if it is true that there is a pattern that I found interesting .. If you have a website with the domain of exact keyword and your inbound links were mostly words like "keyword" ... positions have plummeted. If, however, inbound links to your website, were mostly things like "www.keyword.com" or "keyword.com" positions have risen. At least in my case.
well so far i have seen everyone has different conclusion, we cannot say anything so soon, lets see what happens after a couple of weeks
Interesting information. But can anyone tells me the steps or process to maintain the position in search engine. How can we maintain our position in search engine?
I don't think that this war by Google is basically pointed against "exact match domains". Sure, Google is currently waging war against SPAM (which they have already doing since forever) only this time, they're pounding the ban hammer a little stronger than before. I've noticed a couple of changes in the search results recently and I'm a bit pleased in what I am seeing 'so far'. Hopefully, Google won't mess up and suddenly penalises good website by 'mistake'.
Google has given name to the new algorithm PENGUIN and it's not related to keywords and content. Panda was related to content but this new algorithm is targeting the link spammers who are just throwing links anywhere in blogs, forums, link farms etc. or doing extra linking for the websites.
You can read about the Google update here. googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/another-step-to-reward-high-quality.html All of these should become clearer in a few days.
Its not so that keyword rich domains are loosing ranking. search "international business directory" keyword and its still no.1 in google www.internationalbusinessdirectory.com
If you are a natural writer and using only white hat SEo techniques then I don't think you need to worry about this Google Algorithm change.
Well. I guess Google will roll back to their previous algorithm again. Most of the sites for the first page are irrelevant sites for the keyword. It's time to switch back to Bing/Yahoo.
