It seems Google is planning to take part in the TV game as well - they have teamed with Intel and Sony to develop a platform called Google TV to bring the Web into the living room through a new generation of televisions and set-top boxes. Woohoo, yet another marketing opportunity for IMs. Google and us will take over television Or is it just another section of our lives Google will control ...
I've never had any problems with Google "controlling" any part of my life. Google has been very beneficial to a lot of people by giving away a lot of products. I don't say "for free" because I know that Google gets something out of this as well, and that is information. It uses the information it gets to make their paid products like adsense better!
That part was just a bit of a joke, I have no problem with Google knowing stuff about me. Just between us, I know a thing or two about Google too.
Well, who knows, maybe within a couple of years Google will launch its very own film making studio as well.
This Google TV is very real, many news portals have published articles about it. And it does make sense, TV is very compatible with Google services and on the other hand I also believe TV will never be the same with Google present
So what will they think of next? They got Search engines, Email, VoIP, Advertising, now TV? How about a Google Car?
What about Google Fiber: http://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/ Could kill broadband in an instant. And then Google could couple it with voice, cable, tvm and a search engine, and its current television ad platform" http://www.google.com/adwords/tvads/index-b.html They would seriously "manage" all media advertising. Nearly all of it. Comcast would need to get another media/social service to fight it. Foursquare, Twitter etc, beware of the giants...
If it is true, it is the right time for the government to break them apart. Google is too powerful and abusive. I'd say axe those bastards.
I for one welcome Google as my overload. I think they do a good job. I use them on my cell phone, My Google voice, email and even to take CC payments. I would not mind having them on my TV to boot. Maybe one day we will have Google underwear also. Mmmm wonders if googleunderware.com is for sell now.
My thoughts exactly I'm too young to remember but I wonder if people supported Microsoft once as much as Google before it became a hated monopolist.
Google t.v is a new experience made for television that combine the tv you know and the love with the freedom and power of the internet.
