What experiences do you have with google translate on your site. I've just started incorporating it for some sites targeted to non-english countries though most of the web surfers do speak english. Does it have bandwidth issues? Seems I tried it before and it killed my bandwidth. Is it accurate? Or at least accurate enough? How do you deal with language barriers when going into new markets?
I will sum it up short 1. There would be no bandwidth issue 2. It is a bit accurate and not reliable enough if you are serious about how audience feeling. Most of the time they are crappy and help only understand a small meaning while cannot descriptive for details information. 3. If I were you I will deal with language barriers by hiring some cheap writer to rewrite content on similar topics, or a regular writer to write unique content and inexpensive writer of course.
It depends a lot on what kind of website you have and more on how professional you want it to be. It is always advisable to have them translated yourself rather than going for Google Translate. Most of the time, Google Translate takes the context verbatim, seldom picking up the context in which the statement might have been said. This can change the meaning of what you intend to say. You can hire some one for a nominal fee and get the translation done. Google Translate is not 100% accurate.
i believe if you use google toolbar or you log in on your account and you visit a website which is not your preferred language google usually ask if you want to translate it or not..which is really helps..
Google translate is better but not 100% accurate to me. Moreover it is better than all other translators available on the web.
If you use it for single word, the accuracy can go up to 95%. however, it is not good for translating the sentences
Lifeplayer is correct, If your looking for business then much better to have your own copy rather than using Google translate.
I would say it ranges from 0-100%. Some statements may just be translated verbatim, as I said earlier. What's the point if the context of the statement can't be maintained. And yes, it has happened many times with GT.
