What is the fastest that you have gotten SE traffic from Google - that wasn't you - to a completely brand new domain, not aged by someone else. Also mine as well share MSN and Yahoo experience also.
Seems like the new sites I open and don't really develop or care about at the time seem to do really well in G, but poorly in other SE's. The one's I care about and build good content and backlinks for suffer in G for a few months, while do great in the others.
My iPod forum has been getting about 100 referrals a day from Google ever since 2 weeks after I officially launched it. The way it happened was lots of natural back links (people's blogs, links from over 100 people on del.icio.us, etc). I didn't promote the site at all. A couple of interesting threads just got picked up by the Web community and generated natural backlinks.
