I was getting about 150,000 unique visitors to my site per day, rock solid for a long time. It's not all google traffic but about 90% of it is. I have done nothing to my site to cause this. Traffic INSTANTLY dropped and i'm getting around 35,000 visitors per day now! This happened about 30 hours ago. I hope this is just temporary... a google dance or something?!? I have never had this happen before. I have had gradual loss of traffic over a few weeks... but never instantly like this. I have had good traffic for about 2 years. If anyone has experienced this with google, particularly in the last week, i'd love to hear from you. I'm really crossing my fingers that this is just a temporary glitch and I hope it will be back to normal within a few days.
PM me the URL of your site and I will have a quick look at it also. Google has been updating their data centers since last Wednesday. There are many threads and blogs about the changes. I would read them as well.
There is no need to panic. This generally happens as the new algorithm is run over each site... it is a shuffle that should see your site return shortly (once the sites that replaced yours also undergo the algorithm and get re-ranked accordingly). If there is no change in 2 weeks, then start to look at things. Right now, there is no need to panic or do anything differently than you have done - provided it is all white hat and above board etc
Last week my traffic doubled for a day then went back to normal after ranking better for some search terms.
Joshm, What does your stats tell you? Your major keywords gone down? Your site gone down as a whole? Less main indexed pages?
It's simply the method you use to promote your website to search engines... White hat = ways which goes under the search engine TOS and are not considered spam to them Black hat = spaming with different ways to get a good spot on the search engines. Usualy done for websites which are not intended to last for long. they use these techniques to get traffic fast and then get blacklisted from search engine. they just start the process again If you even remotly consider having genuine good websites that you want to be proud to own and make a lot of money in the long run... stay away from the very known and very bad blackhat techniques. Some people will tell you you can use "grey hat" but they are borderline whitehat which you should not abuse of Search button on this website is your best friend.
I think that there is an update soon, they migth do some algo updates as well, a TBPR update is for sure underway so it is probably just a flux! But please PM the URL I will have a look at it!
Wow, that's alot of visitors. How many servers u running that site on. Did u do a quantcast check on ur site to see what they say about ur traffic. U should sign up for quantified, and u can make some real money with advertising on ur site. That's like 10 times more traffic then DP forums. Wow, busy site u got there. Something like www.quantcast.com/linkspub.com
3 reasons: 1) Your hosting went down while Google was crawling, check your server stats and webmaster central error reports 2) You have been buying or selling links or had done so in the past 3) Google has decided your site shouldn't rank like it used to
I myself is facing same condition, I guess it's something temporary will be normal soon (expecting it to be normal within a week)
My site is white-hat. There are 3 spam sites above me and 2 that have very few backlinks, almost no content, and link to drug stuff. This has been going on since June 5th for me. My site has been dancing around the first page. But today, my site is #6 on the 2nd page, with spam above me. I used to be #3 on the first page. Apparently an authority site isn't as relevant as spam.
yeah this happen to one one of my blog last week. but now it seems tht blog is recovering its visitors!
I am also experiencing the same thing. My position hasn't really dropped but there is lesser traffic for the last 4 days.
I don't know if he is lying or not but 150K a day = 4.5 Million a month according to overture the word sex is searched for 203,439 times a day - so he must have a hell of a KW
You're joking right? I've seen sites with 200k, 300k, 1mil unique per day. I wonder how many ppl asking for his url just want to see what his site does so they can copy it.
