My site has been on Google for about 4 moths now. I used to get anywhere from 5 to 25 UV's per day from Google. About 2 weeks ago I totally redesigned my site. I resubmitted my new sitemap to Google and they have only indexed 7 out of 26 pages. Before I redesigned my site all of my pages were indexed. I redirected the pages that had been moved or renamed using HTML code. Is there something that I did wrong? I am really not sure what is going on. If I do a google search my old pages are still on there. Also all of my new pages have been optimized for SEO. Any help would be really appreciated. My site is www.philscomputerrepair.com
When you do any major website redesign it is very common to temporarily lose search engine rankings. You said you redirected old pages via html code. Were those 301 redirects? When you submit your sitemap to Google, does it give you any crawling errors? Usually Google Webmaster Tools will tell you about any crawling issues. Getting more quality backlinks sometimes helps a website get more pages indexed.
I used a meta redirect, I wanted to do a 301 redirect, but my hosting company woudl not allow me to copy the htaccess file to the web server. That file extension was not allowed. Do you think that I have been penalized for using the meta redirect? If so should I just deleted my old pages and wait for Google to index my new pages? When I look in google webmaster tools I do not see any crawling errors, which is what confused me.
