does that really matter... that if my domain name is expiring in 1 month... google will send me less amount of traffic. Thanks!
chetanmadaan, There was talk some time ago that if you renew a website for say 10 years that Google would take a particular liking to you because it displayed a sense of your site not being a "fly by night" and that it was a serious long-term online presence. Well talks of that have faded and I believe now a site is rewarded based on it's own merits. 1. Domain age absolutely makes a difference in the SERP's. Tenure means alot and this + good SEO is what eventually establishes your site as an "authority". 2. Your website's ranking on Google will determine your organic search engine traffic and Google has no true control over how many people naturally click into your website. If you do happen to notice your ranking slipping around the 1 month mark before EVERY renewal on a yearly basis then by all means renew early or for a term of say 3 or 5 years.
I absolutely agree with OpenMindz. I have also heard about the long renewing of sites having a positive effect on rank. Not sure how much it influences anymore. His two points are spot on.
Google confirmed that domain name registration period is NOT a ranking factor. However, Domain AGE is just another thing.. old aged domains used and still have a extra advantage in ranking higher in Google search engine. keeping in mind that fresh quality unique content still provided or at least the domain got high amount of authority in the eye of Google.
I don't think so, either. Domain age might have its weight in Google SERP but if the domain would expire or not would definitely not have any effect on traffic. IMO.
