This system will only affect the natural search results that you see when you do a search while you are logged in to your Google account. It will not affect the natural SERP's of anybody else.

So if you do not want to see a particular site turn up in the results of your searches, then you can vote it down, and it will not turn up when you do a search while logged in to your account. It acts as a personal filter of sorts.

There may still be the original write up about it somewhere at labs.google.com

    Cheers
    James

Why would the number one search engine even consider dramatically changing it's search algorithm to something that has become the biggest spam joke on the internet?

It wont happen, as it would be too easy to abuse and spam. Think of how easy it is to become a digg premium member by just following the rules at first then using your gained momentum to abuse the system. Digg is not an effective SERP system and it would surely put google behind.

This is an old news now. Digg has already refused the offer. Nothing like this will be happening. If it were to happen, SEO would get a whole new meaning.

DIGG is not the biggest spam joke

people getting a few hundred visits from DIGG is not considered a spamful technique

real sites that get thousands , hundreds of thousands of visits are pretty legit and deserve it

I'll stick with link exchange, fresh contents, etc. (but I'll try that new method!)

They don't need digg type voting, because they already track what people click on through analytics, and toolbar. They know what is popular already.

    **Yawn** Whatever

    Bingo.

Dharma, they already track this stuff. It's obvious that you really want Digg to be incorporated into the Google system for some reason or another but the fact is that they don't need it.
Yes, they could do it. But that's not the point.

I'm not sure where you're from, but in the USA we have a saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Yes digg helps to user to get indexed fast . Google want to buy it so they can stay ahead in search engines rankings and more webmasters start using digg for ranking . Digg generates good earnings from adsense also that why Google is interested in it .
