Why wouldn't they close their Chinese headquarters? With all the hacking attempts, the government itself blocking the search engine, I don't blame them.

It would be sad news if this happened. Their market share will certainly be affected.
Are they closing all operations like adsense etc or just the SE?

I think it's about time. They needed to move out of their with the Chinese completely controlling everything to goes on. Google was potentially going to lose money as a result of the suspension and attempted hackings.

It won't make a difference. Google.com will still be available in China, they're just taking down Google.cn, though the government might take out Google.com in anger.

That is becoming very very optimistic!
Do you really think that a set back in just one country would relegate google down and elevate Bing (MS) so much? ;)

Yes that can also happen, you never know. Services like blogspot, facebook, digg, twitter are already banned since last one year.

Right now, the papers are saying that Google is going to leave, but have not yet specified this in detail. That what I am saying the Government (about a year ago) didnot inform any one before and just stopped blogspot and facebook.

I just really hope that all the services including google, facebook and twitter starts again.

But Chinese citizens have every thing what they need like baidu being the top search engine in China than google.cn, then its the chinese facebook where it has more wonderful games than what facebook actually has.
