Well it is not really something new (at least a week or 2); the word "challenge" is a bit... hmmm strange in my own opinion, but yes - they are building some OS which if I remember correctly should be out (free) somewhere next year (1st half I think). I think the name was the same as their browser - Chrome. However, I'd call it just a TRY, not a CHALLENGE - like their browser Not that I like MS, but no chance to replace my windows, which although way too old - installed some 4-5 years ago, with good maintenance and a lot of back-ups works well (XP SP1)...way better than Vista and Windows7 betas Anyway, let them fight for it
I wonder if they'll get Tears for Fears to write a jingle for them. Anyway, this comes up every couple years. It's pretty much the same thing with Linux and other OS'es. Even if they're a better system, they're going to have to overcome MS' marketing and the like. They're also have to face antitrust regulations, just like MS has to do every so often.
A mean and lean Google OS may be able to take over the niche for netbooks, as Microsoft tends to have resource pigs.
Wow! that means Google will surely add something very useful in CHROME so it will be only way to challenge Microsoft with its diversified products
Google is launching new operating system, called Google Chrome. Which will be specially for Netbooks, its a opensource and will be available fully in market in mid of 2010. Google Android is completely different project from this, This is another attempt to gain the points of GOOG (google in stock market) and another attempt to became #1 in internet industry...
Any Vista user is open to suggestions. Right now I would probably try an operating system built by Lego.
This is old news, Google OS will also be linux based so i dont think microsoft has anything to worry about
Yes you are right and windows OS is used worldwide in office work and its hard to change new OS and teach employees about how to operate new OS .
if you read the news and know anything, you'll know it wont make a dent to microsoft and they're not worried. yeah vista sucked,so did windows ME.then they came out with xp. windows 7 looks promising.i tried an RC and i liked it. you know, as a mater of fact google hired some people from Lego to make Google OS n00b friendly. the jury is out if they succeeded.
MS will remain dominant in the OS area for a very long time. Maybe as long as Google dominates the search engine world. I think Google is taking one step further by offering their OS free of charge. That is a good marketing strategy that will really work!
didn't know it was called google android, this is new to me, but sounds inresting. It's about time that Microsoft suffered some stiff competition.
