The US Justice department has decided it will be launch an investigation into the deal that Google has struck with Yahoo over its search advertising.

Sniff sniff. Anyone reckon that Microsoft gave the Justice Dept a push to investigate Google to put a spanner in the works?

Nope, this is just a trust issue, to make sure there is competition in the industry and that Google and yahoo aren't working together to destroy all competition and charge people whatever they want.

I would not be surprised if Microsoft did...
Or maybe the US Justice department thought they had better do something before people started raising anticompetitive concerns, and asking why "hadn't they already" looked into it..
Will be interesting to see how this pans out
    Thanks for the heads up!

    Cheers

I also think that it is more of a case of people getting scared that Yahoo and Google are working together to fully monopolize it and destroy all the other competitions.

Well whatever the outcome, Microsoft will surely be kicking themselves for not upping their bid for Yahoo.

Google saw them coming and ousted them by opening up themselves with one of their closest competitors.

Guess this is the reason why it is being looked into. Still, what can the Justice Dept really do about it?
