Hi Folks, I hope you have read this http://searchengineland.com/google-testing-new-adwords-budgeting-option-timeframe-16058 . What do you think about this new Timeframe. Give your suggesstion it will be very helpful. Thanks.
Sounds like another, great way for Google to maximize their income without giving the customer any benefit whatsoever. Actually, I was under the impression that Google already worked this way. At least, on my account the impressions, clicks and daily spend always increase during the last few days of the month IF I have not been hitting the daily budget earlier. It is annoying and I do not understand why it should happen since all my campaigns are "accelerated" but I have just learned to live with it. One problem I foresee, what happens if they overspend at the beginning of the month? Would the move to monthly budgeting give Google leeway to increase your budget "allowance" from 20% per day to 20% per month? That could be a huge increase in income for Google (although, probably only for one month before those hit trim back their budgets.) Alternatively, advertisers will discover they are short of funds (i.e. big drop in impressions and clicks) the last few days each month and conclude they must increase the monthly budget to compensate - again, more $ for Google! I love the assumption that we are all desperate to give Google as much of our money as possible! I do not know how others operate but I set my budgets to allow for daily spikes of +25 to 50% (depending on campaign) of average traffic. I do not expect or hope to spend it all each month - quite the opposite, I expect to be about 20% under budget each month.
I'm not sure that it should make any difference to a well managed campaign since your adverts should be showing for every search and your budget lasting all day anyway. On the positive side, if there is a surge in traffic one day, perhaps Google will not limit spend to +20%, and allow us to continue showing adverts. Since I always end the month about 5-10% under budget as a result of not wanting to pay too much per click - this could actually be of benefit to my campaigns. Then again, i'm gonna reserve my excitement until i've seen how it actually works and tested it.
You are right, it should not make any difference if you run an accelerated campaign with an adequate budget. But, that is exactly my point when I mentioned the increase in impressions and clicks at the end of every month. My campaigns are accelerated and my budget more than covers the average daily activity yet every month there is a surge the last few days ????? The only conclusion I can come to is that Google are not showing my ads for every search the first c. 25 days of the month. Hence, my cynicism.
Ok - but surely they wouldn't want to purposely hold back your advert for the first 25 days if they are out to maximise their profits since they would want as much competition as possible for every search - wouldn't they? Unless their thinking is that if you only show for some of the searches you will push bids up to spend budgets you have been given by your client/manager etc. That would explain why standard method of delivery is the default, when it is clearly not in your best interest. Any thoughts? Im going to be watching my accounts carefully at the end of this month.
I haven't noticed a spike like this at the end of the month before. Is this something relatively new that has been happening to you bjewelled?
It does not make sense to me either. I suppose the only other explanation could be that it is around about most people's pay day and there are simply more people searching.
