Google targeting clients of TLA ...????

One of my sites got slammed this week.

I was 1st page in google for 200-300 keywords and now I am completely gone, site had many #2 positions and now are found on pages 8 & 9...most keywords no longer in top 100

Any chance google is targeting clients of T-L-A

This site has ranked well consistently for over 1 year, has a domain over 8 years old and has over 80k backlinks with unique content updated daily.

So, 2 questions...is google targeting clients of tla and has anyone had a similar experience???

    THANKS!

How do they know you are linked to TLA?

On your site do you have any links pointing back to TLA? I know there were some sites that lost there PR a few months back with the last update and after they removed the TLA link there PR changed back a few weeks later. I know you did not ask about PR, rather your SERP's but it makes me wonder if by linking to TLA will they kill your SERP's as well.

Certian something to think about. It seems google does not like the whole concept in general. It could be true.

If you have 80K backlinks I doubt its TLA causing it unless those are your only quality links.

IMO, Google would discount the value of the link and penalize the seller, not the buyer.

I guess it is possible Google is penalizing buyers but as often mentioned, this opens up an cases to kill your competitor.

I have my suspicions about paid inbound links but of course we can't always prove anything is a specific cause for any affect in Google. The main problem I see with paid links is you are getting a link with some anchor text that sits next to other links with anchor text which is a bit unnatural. Links should be within the copy of a page to be of value otherwise it can be assumed it's a list of PR sharing links or a list of your friends blogs or a list of links that the author likes but isn't writing much about.

After researching this it may not be tied into tla but is a penalty of some fashion

Has anyone heard of the google -950 penalty

Basically the only page that shows up in google is the index page, all other pages and search results are gone for this site and rankings tanked on all search terms..

    thanks

Who has told you about the Google -950 penalty anyway? Paid links are not that bad even if detected by Google. They simply are discounted and the PR is blocked. In fact many of the top 10 Google ranking websites use a combination of link building packages and they still are buying links. Maybe it is temporary.

I'm going to say that it might be temporary, since I've seen sites that use TLA and still maintain their rank and position quite well

Google knows that you have links related to TLA by crawls made based on link keywords like: paid reviews, paid advertisement, text link ads and other forms of paid link advertisements.

When they discover this is part of your website, they immediately put you on hold for your rankings and even PR and eventually give you the penalty by putting y our site in the lower rankings in the search results.

See a relevant post on how to adjust when you got hit by Google on TLA on the above link.
