I think that Skype is more widely used. I've got both, as well as Yahoo, MSN, and AIM. I do that because different clients use different messengers and it allows me to be flexible. I think a lot of the preference has to do with which one you learned first. Google's products tend to be much simpler, and a lot less cluttered. I haven't used Google Talk a lot, but from when I have, it's very nice.
Fair enough... I believe this is still a testing phase for Google talk, there's still a lot to consider and improve.
I prefer Skype due to its technique that used in voip calls, it is known as the peer to peer technology which is widely used in the torrents. This makes it totally unique and performer even in the least network connection condition. So I would like to suggest you too use Skype
I was all set to post that I love gtalk, but now that everyone love skype, I'm going to try that instead!
Gtalk is no where in competition with the skype. Skype has got excellent service regarding video quality and also with the voice quality, Very rarely i have been troubleshooting any sort of problem with the functioning and performance of skype. Where as gtalk has always given its users a bit of hard time to cope up with.
Skype is far better than Gtalk. Especially for video chat skype is more descent but when it comes to chat online then I prefer for Gtalk. Gtalk have the service of instant file attachment and so on.
Skype supports conference video and voice calls which Gtalk doesn't supports, only you can make voice calls to one at a time. Recently gmail has added the opportunity to have conference voice and video calls. I prefer Skype.......................
I perfer GoogleTalk for the fact it works great on my iphone. It allows video chat to other people on their PCs or Macs.
