Google takes away your rankings if you show your portfolio?

I having been wondering about this and thought to post this up to get your feedback.

I believe you have came across SEO Consultants website especially those who have tried to share with you some of their portfolio and actual keywords that they have been ranked for. The funny thing is when you try to do a live search now, most rankings are not valid, some not even in the top ten results..

Does Google takes away their rankings when you showcase your SEO porfolio?

Any comments or experience on this that you would like to share?

no I dont believe this, its just that over periods of time rankings fluctuate and most dont update their sites or searches to keep it current.

then there's the geo factor, they might see something different to you anyway.

so in effect yes Goodle does giveth, and then taketh away, but not because you showed your results.

I too heard some thing like this before. It is true that google hate off-page optimization and like to penalize the sites which uses off-page techniques. Google love natural growing of a site.

I think G doesn't matter if you use the services of a SEO agency as long as your site is optimized the whitehat way. So no I don't think this is the reason.

trosquin, quit spamming the forum with your retarded replies. Does that answer even have anything to do with this thread?

I really don't think you would get penalized for being listed on an seo portfolio. It sounds like the people you have come across just have not updated their portfolio in a while. Those websites likely stopped paying for seo services and their rankings slipped over time.

I don't see why Google would have a problem if you were to showcase a website you built up and marketed legitimately and achieved a high ranking because of it. They might do this if you blatantly brag about ranking high in Google using "dirty" tactics and then revealed your phrase and website.

This is most likely the case. Although it really depends on a bunch of different factors. First and foremost, how much competition for the keyword? It does not take long for a stagnate site to drop down in rankings. There are some of my sites that I am always promoting and they still slip because Google is Google and will always be Google. Thats just the way it is.

i dont believe that they take away your rankings after you show your portfolios. but i do believe that seo is a continues task to be done jut to maintain your rankings maybe after they show their portfolios they stop doing soe because they been able to rank it already so the competition keeps doing seo and beet them to the top spot of the rankings.

They don't care. They aren't that bored. Heck, they don't even answer emails from their customers, why would they bother to look for SEO portfolio, look up their keywords, and ban them from SERP?

No, and why would Google do it they the top SE after all... Porfolios are meant to show about your achievements, and Google will just crawl it by and won't drop any of your rankings...

i dont think thats the case. i believe what happens is that the protfolio showed on the site is from old times and they are just not maintaining the same ranking anymore but the site hasn't been updated. getting ranked is one thing and maintaining the ranking is another. lot of people buy ranking service and get into comfort zone not realizing that SEO campaign needs to be continued to maintain the ranking.

I know from personal experience I tend to do testing on sites, keywords, etc... and after I am done I move on to testing something new so rankings will naturally fall when no attention is given to that specific project anymore.
