Google didn't donate a cent. The money is donated by google employees and their immediate families. It wont effect the search results.
You really need to understand how those numbers are reported. The search results are fine. Oh yeah, we really did land on the moon too.
the very same employees who donated money, work at google, and working at google includes working on the search algo and so on. I don't wanna say that it's the search results only, but other aspects as well. Let's just say they could increase adwords min bids for Obama's opponents
They aren't the only people who work at google though are they. Changes to the algo are heavily tested and go through rigorous inspections and quality control. It would be impossible for one employee to alter the algo to favour a particular candidate without being found out.
As others have mentioned, these figures come from the employees of these corporations, not the corporations themselves. It's not surprising that Google employees overwhelmingly support Obama (you'll note they aren't among McCain's top contributors.) Their employees tend to be highly educated younger people who are smart enough (and "tuned in" enough) to know that voting for McCain is absolutely unreasonable.
