My opinion is that when Google is not able to index all the pages from a site but still knows that these pages do exists (though sitemap etc) for a website, it puts them in Suplimental results Index rather then into Main Index in which rest of the pages are stored and are searched against to be pulled into SERPs and ranked. Or when lots of pages are added to a site at one go or in a short period with same content or little contents or pages which are not linked to other pages within the site, then these pages are moved into Suplimental results which means Google knows these pages exists but to keep the Main Index full of quality pages moves them into Suplimental Index. Things that will remove the Suplimental Results are: 1- Add fresh & unique contents including Meta tags and other seo stuff. 2- Get high quality links to these pages. 3- Link these pages to other pages to be part of the internal linking network 4- To remove the page from SR index, completely remove all the contents of the page, put a link to the new page with improved content and apply a 301 to a new page. Google will over a period of time, will think of the old SR page as worthless and will completely remove it from SR Index. Good luck!
Hi SEO Expert, As i mentioned all of these pages are well linked to the websites and are with fresh content and all these pages are NEW so i think there is no point putting up the 301 on them. Thanks for the advice but not really impressed. Anyways thanks for taking time to comment. Much appreciated. Thanks, Shashi
Shashi, If you only cared to read my post you would have understood what I meant by 301 redirect. I said if you want to remove your Suplimental result pages completely, then you can use 301 re-direct to a emply page which will over a period of time may remove your SR page. BTW no one posts here to impress anyone!
Hi Expert, Please dont take things the other way round. I appreciate that you took time to reply and i appreciate that too. As per 301 re-direct goes i cant go for it, as the pages are just created with the fresh content. I heard that google put the supplement results tag to the new pages in the first go and then it gives it the right placement in the SERP;s. And i wanted to know the reason by which i can overcome this situation. Also if you search for the site:sitename.co.uk it is caching the header link rather then the des tag or the content from the website. I would appreciate if you can come back with the best possible solution with the precautions that i should take care of. Kind Regards, K Shashi Jones
from my experience i have come to know dat, making small changes in Title, Metas and content of your pages can get them out of SR index (if google crawls the new page). Try getting some direct incoming links to inner pages which are in SR index.
