Hmm, interestingly, that's what I plan to do also! To reduce to only one text banner per page. Now I have two or three banners and the income is just pathetic. I pointed this out in another thread somewhere about "how to increase CTR"
Having one unit is the best option. But adding a link unit wont hurt. Having 2 banners will reduce your pay per click(since more ads compete for banner space, less price per click), but having a banner plus a link unit is = same income from the banner + little bit extra from link unit. Thats what google is trying to tell you
I have not rec'd the email but I placed one row of link unit ads on one of my pages and placed it where it can be seen (gets a lot of traffic). Have not seen any increases yet.
Your income went up when you reduced the number of ads? Does this happen to many people? I suppose if people have loads of ads all over their site people are less inclined to click...
Search Boxes are the most OVERLOOKED part of Adsense, you can make a killing with them. Especially when on the most part they pull around a 10% CTR....
True. Though the CTR is good on search, the total earnings compared to the regular advertisements click is far less ..
Yep but if you can get a user to bookmark your site as their homepage then use your search everytime they come online it's better than one click from a random user on a proper ad unit
This said, hw abt i do all my searches on my site itself rather than go to Google homepage? Would that be against the TOS?
As long as you don't click any of the sponsored links you will be ok, but why would you want to inflate your impressions & decrease your ctr by doing that?
Someone said don't do two banners, instead one banner and one link unit. One half-banner is in the middle of the navigation (in its own table, very obvious that its an ad), and the other half banner is below my <h1> tags for all my content pages. So would it best now to add one row of link units near the bottom of the page and adds images near them?
