this is such a joke!! everyone bashes microsoft for "spying" people and using autofill in IE which is said to be insecure and now Google does all the same, there really isn't any news lately that makes me Google like more... I didn't even visit the google website for 1 month now and switched to Yahoo and MSN, was using Yahoo for news before anyway because Google news sucks.

google has been upsetting me lately too. the quality of results have been lacking (to say the least) and the SERPS are constantly changing. personally, i think MSN and Yahoo are providing much better results....

I agree on that, it's not only that my site ranks bad where it shouldn't. But another thing annoyed me too lately... I bought a new notebook and tries to look up reviews but Google always returned eBay, shop and other ad links in the top results while I found cool reviews using MSN.

You're right to some extent. Google does have a bias towards the BIGGER sites, i.e. high PR sites! But, I still feel that it's a bit too easy to get to the top on MSN which will lead to it's downfall in the long term once SPAMmers get to work (unless they fix their algo, of course).

Google's SERPs are definitely getting worse. Google succeeds in fighting spams, but at the expense of less relevant SERPs.

I think that's not even true, I did a homework for my law studies today and searched for some info on § 765 of the German civil code and the first 30 results I found for two or three terms were spam-dialer-links to hausarbeiten.de via several domain redirectors. Fine if Google can't filter spam sites, but when the first 30 results direct you to a dialer page that's a threat to computer newbies!!

"Google fights SPAM" better than the other search engines.

    Well.....

    compare
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-04,GGLD:en&q=jura+gliederung+bürgschaft
    and
    http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=jura+gliederung+bürgschaft&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8
    and
    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?FORM=MSNH&srch_type=0&q=jura+gliederung+bürgschaft

I think Google has by far the worst result!! All Top 10 results link to the same dialer page while Yahoo and MSN actually offer useful links. Either Google doesn't filter that good or I just found a really ugly search term that Google can't handle.

P.S. don't complain because I used a German search term :-P I was looking for sites in German
