Just Kidding. Google is great. But why do they not have something more web 2.0 as far as their search engine? The search engine, in my opinion, seems outdated. Whenever you search for a large phrase you are just getting the top SEO'ed sites. Why have they not created their own Stumbleupon, Digg, etc. ?
google IS creating their own stumbleupon... the new google toolbar for IE has thumb up and thumb down buttons and suggest options. (aparently, haven't seen it myself)
You talking about the Voting buttons (smilie face and frowny face) that have been on the Google Toolbar forever, that no one, including Google, uses...? Way to stay on top of things. Go to Options -> More -> Even more buttons and click on the Voting checkbox. -Michael
The thing with Google is that it is a meta search engine and it's good at that. It is not a stumble upon where it is likely to get spammed by loads of them stumble exchanges.
I'm gonna take a wild guess here that you have absolutely no clue whatsoever what that actually means, huh... -Michael
Why should Google be something it's not? I think the best Search Engine, CPC Program, and Email system is good, the more things it takes on like Feedburner and Youtube just makes them a big whore.
I have been working online for over 6 years with affiliate marketing and seo. When I first started online I was going to create a meta search engine until I released that there were to bigger players on the market that I would never be able to compete with and it would have been much more hassle than what it would have been worth. I use the term meta search engine as its a search engine that uses some of the metatags within their listings and also the sites content.
They still deliver the best search results and this is constantly being improved.... Why would they want to start their own digg or stumbleupon when they are already serving ads to most of what you are calling "web 2.0"
I just updated it and the only new buttons are stocks and orkut ones etc Hmm I'll restart my computer and see
G is the great search engine and it will continue to become the first. abut the Stumbleupon ; if you look carefully to your google toolbar, there is a star on it. what do you think about it? what is it used for?
I don't see them trying to be something they're not, like Stumble or another Social site. They know their industry like no one else. I also feel they're the best SE out there. Just used Yahoo and MSN last night on a phrase to see what it would return. Pretty disappointing results. TxDon
Well, ok... but honestly, with over 6 years marketing experience you should know that trying to re-coin something that already has a well defined meaning is a fairly futile effort without a national advertising budget. Aside from paid listings, which search engines (not directories) don't use meta snippets and page content? -Michael
