Google can never isolate themselves from the buzz revolvesaround them. This time Canadian Government pin-pointed Google for violating laws because Google unintentionally collected information about the location of Wi-Fi networks. Google intended to do so to obtain the information needed to populate its location-based services database. After knowing what the reality was, Canada's high official said that Google should provide better training to their staff about when it comes to sensitive aspect like privacy and staff should learn following company procedures well. Google confirmed that they have stopped the collection after they realized that this could end up in a serious privacy issue.

Don't count on them stopping. They probably just told them they did to hush the issue. Google is a corporation that thinks they are above the law. They try to keep it real in the public eye, but will take advantage or screw over anyone and everyone they can if it means benefiting themselves. They aren't the only ones though, most if not all major players or corporations will or would do the same. You can bet your tail microsoft, facebook, you name it have screwed over a lot of people in similar ways.
