Their CFO put his foot in his mouth at a Merrill conference. Google's growth is slowing a bit, no surprise or need to worry about Google's bankroll. Their "dissapointing" profit report from last quarter was $814 million.

For some perspective, look at their chart from the beginning:

One day the big players are going to say, google has had enough and pull their investiments.

Then they will be rich and all the regular folks that invested will be broke and the execs will have golden parachutes.

It's not like it will be the first time it happened either. ;)

maybe the CFO is just trying to get the analysts to set the bar a little lower so that Google doesn't have to be so concerned about their EPS

I agree that expectations are definitely a big issue for them. It's gotta be hard to be CFO when analysts are putting price targets on your stock anywhere from $180 to $2,000.

It was interesting that they did come out and made a clarification to the CFO's statement after the market closed. Kind of goes against their previous stance, but understandable.

The stock is way too expensive in my opinion. It can be of interest for day traders, but for the mid-term I would stay away. If the Big Daddy mess and bad search results hit the mainstream media, it might take another dive.

Absent something new coming along... I expect Google has peaked and is starting a downward slide back into reality.

YPN is threatening to cut into Google ad revenues.

    So is MSN

Has anyone noticed, there hasnt been alot of "Ive been banned by adsense" threads of late? They need all the publishers they can get and they know it.

I made more today on YPN then I ever have on Adsense, and only give YPN half my pageviews. Not looking good for adsense. Once YPN gets strongers, has more advertisers, and comes out of Beta, Google is in trouble. And about that time, MSN will be coming out and that'll be the right hook needs to really hurt Google.

I wouldnt buy Google stock right now for half its current price. The future seems too volitile to me...

well you need to judge when this will be (v. v. difficult!), sell just before, and then buy back in after the price crash!

Google is stuck between the 200 day MA and the support at $330. Its going through the support at $330. Watch out for lower 200s...
