Google still sucks as they always used to do, but stupid people love them anyway!?

Can someone tell me whats so good about google? Is the searches really more relevant than other alternatives like MSN, Yahoo and Altavista. Just because google is slow with index sites and hate sandboxes doesn't mean that it's better n any case. People didn't switch to google from Altavista because of the more "relevant" engine(they are too stupid to understand) but because of other things such as the name and style.

Give me proofs that google is more useful than other alternatives, please!!

I don't know about the things you search for, but 99% of the time I find what I am looking for on google, very few times trying the others did any better.

 

It's more useful to me as a webmaster because that's where the overwhelming majority of people search... why they do so isn't nearly as much of a concern to me as the fact that they do.

 

I use msn and yahoo search only to check backlinks or check my own serps. google is by far the best eventhough yahoo is trying seriously to catch on. msn which generates most of my traffic is really a basic search engine that can be manipulated easily. Google started the best and is still the best. SEs are there for users and queries not to generate the highest traffic for webmasters.

From a marketer standpoint google is gold as they control a larger portion of the market share. Market google and you will in turn get a better return (if they send any visitors)

I can imagine why people hate Google too but then I have good rankings and generally find their results quite satisfactory

 

As a webmaster I like the search engine that bring me the most visitors.

I confess I use google because it is the default on my Firefox search. Any idea how to change that? (without editing chrome or js whatever)

And if I type in some specific keywords into the Firefox url bar, google brings up the right page most of the time.

Result wise I find google and yahoo are pretty close. MSN is a distant third.

 

top ten results are all webmaster related - some I would definitely call authority sites (where do webmasters go?)

 

I was referring to the top 1st result in particular, not top 10. i am sure all webmasters know about the webmaster.com, the mother of all webmaster sites

I do agree that Google is better. They bring me more visitors (not listed yet, but before on the old site).

However the only thing I hate is the sandbox. Just because you are new doesn't mean you are gonna spam and it doesn't mean that your info isn't useful.

That comment/question is an opinion which is not based on facts. The reason I like Google is because they send over 85% of the traffic to one of my sites. They are also the leader in payperclick advertising with Adsense and Adwords, forcing Yahoo and MSN to play catch up.

The founders of Google are geniuses and so are the execs. They keep creating innovative ideas. Microsoft is old and yahoo isn't as innovative, in my opinion, of course.

 

I used to not like Google because I could never find what I was looking for. I used to use Yahoo because it was easy to find what I searched for, but with Google it wasn't easy. Then there came a time where I couldn't find what I was looking for on Yahoo and I slowly migrated to Google. When I migrated to Google, I was still annoyed by it because when I searched for a help topic, like how to do this and that with php, I came across forum posts where people asked the same question on what I searched for, but people replied to these posts saying "Search on Google". That got me very fustrated. But I am happy now that when I search on Google, I rarely come across unhelpful posts like that.
