Google "Sponsored Link" - how do you get it?

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by Pixelrage, May 1, 2007.

This is a question I was asked at work, because my boss wants to do it - but I don't know the answer. He's referring to those light yellow boxes at the top of SERP's that sometimes have a company's link, and in the lower right hand corner it says "Sponsored Link" (which isn't a link pointing to anywhere). I searched Google for "sponsored link on google" but I get nothing but Adsense-related links. Does anyone know?

    Thanks

    adwords.google.com

Those are paid listing. The higher you pay for what you sell the higher the listing.

    Good luck...

    Good question.
But the adwords are shown on the right side. So under what condition they will be shown on the top of the list like markn26 ask?

ahh, that's what I figured. The funny part is that a competitor bought up the keywords to all of our products, and is now at the top SERP for all of those keywords.

Glad it's not my company :D

its not a function of price. sometimes they appear on top, sometimes on the side. you can get on the top for 25 cents on the right keyword. others will cost more, of course.

Google ranks the top converter the highest not necessarily the top bidder. So if
Company A pays 25 cents a click but gets 100 clicks a day will be ranked higher in Adwords than someone who pays $1 and gets only a click or two. The better you make your adcopy and relevancy to the keyword, the higher you will rank.

Depending on your competition, you can get up there for 1 cent a click.

Optimize your ad rank and you'll get up there.
