Google & Social Networking-Is Google spelling Doom to your Biz?

Recently, I froze when I heard Google were embracing Social networking and tuning their spiders more towards this social forums. Just what is social networking? And why would Google drastically orient its spiders towards this otherwise neglected area for internet marketing. This article makes a 2 cents attempt to give an opinion why Google may drastically change its Search Engine data retrieval from the World Wide Web.

    Just what is Social Networking?

In my view Social networking is the network people create around a common interest to be able to exchange information, experiences and ideas on a one on one basis. In social networking, people are able to join forums where they can ask questions to real people in a real time basis. The ability to communicate on a one to one basis on the internet seems to finally be pushing the conventional search engine system of pre-prepared website data base to a more focused provision of online information.

How Change in Google’s Policy would affect Online work at home Business

Google search engine policies on information search and retrieval is changing. Google, in its continuous search for relevance, has identified social online networks as the next big thing on the internet. But just what are these things called social networks? As the name suggests, social networks are places on the internet where people interact on a person to person basis. Social is the keyword here.

In order to understand why Google would take such drastic measures, let’s look at what internet information searches dictate. People on the internet are more inclined to believe info specifically tailored for their specific queries. Say, if I joined a forum today and asked a question about internet affiliate marketing. Would I be more likely to believe results that were provided way in advance in a related website or that which is given me for my specific question? Of course and without a doubt I would believe the one answering my exact question. This way my queries get to be answered in a straight forward, targeted and relevant way.

    Effect on Internet Marketers

Now imagine what that would mean to a search engine like Google, a leading source of internet information search in the world. I’ll tell you. If I were running a similar internet search engine like Google, I would also do exactly the same thing. The reason Google is the leading search engine, is its passion to continuously relay relevant search results on the internet. Period. It figures then that, in order for Google to pursue their policies, they have to change in tandem with the demand. And this demand is in the way people all over the world want their information delivered- Straight and Narrow.

    When Social networking start?

The change in Google’s Search results policy has actually been going on ever so gradually. If you have noticed, forums are getting ever more so frequent in your Google engine search results. Think about it. Did you notice the last time you searched for online information, at least 2-3 of the results came from a forum? Why do you think that is? Relevance once again.

Google spiders are tuned to retrieve information searched for based squarely on relevance of the content. Now, with that in mind, tell me what gives more relevant information; a website that is biased on selling a particular product at whatever cost or a forum where people are answering questions on a more specific, real time and relevant angle? No wonder Search Engine Optimization for websites is loosing relevance at an unprecedented scale.

What does this mean to your online business?

Such an impromptu change in the way people seek information on the internet is bound to have serious consequences. Imagine an affiliate marketer who has sorely depended on writing heavily optimized articles for high SERP ranking, abruptly being faced with the possibility of his articles becoming obsolete. Worse even is possibility of the Billion-plus Websites that are likewise optimized for search engines, being drastically declared irrelevant. Where would that put you? I hate to imagine. I’m talking a catastrophe here.

    In English

The translation is that, if you are depending sorely on search engine optimization, then you better think again. The beach could easily dry up with the tides while you swim. The fact is, Google is actually configuring its spiders to be friendlier to social forums. Why? Because that’s where relevance resides. And Google likes relevance. So very much.

Why Internet Marketers need to change with Social Networking Times

If this be the case, then it looks like we all need to run amok to the social forums. But then rules here are stricter. One wrong move and you are out. Similarly to principle of economics, once again the market rules on how we promote our programs online. Your best chance therefore depends on how fast you are able to adapt to this change in Google’s policy.

I think it would be a good idea if we all online marketers started looking at online forums and chats in a different way and while at it provide more individually tailored and relevant information for people searching on the internet. If at all for the sake keeping our websites’ Google rankings afloat.

That's where relevance lives? Relevance to what? The only thing Google cares about - other than the bottom line - is how relevant they believe a given page is to a given search term.
