Google Slaves

Funny I came up with that, I notice we the webmasters are actually Google Slaves.

Read any webmaster boards and you'll notice how everyone seem to be played by Google this and Google that, why can't we just ignore Google and make sites without the fear of Google.

Many of my traffic are not from search engines or from Google search, it is coming from sites that link to me as it was before Google.

Even though some of the optimize keywords is coming up on the first page results, but it is nothing to brag about.

Search engines comes really handy for some searches that you want to find quickly, but, as it was in the earlier days, my findings on great websites are from sites that link to other sites.

So why do we focus so much on search engines or we talk about Google so much, why do we care when a great number of us don't get enough traffic from it.

StumbleUpon.com toolbar is one of those places that will actually bring you traffic most, specially if your site is new and other Social Bookmarking sites and rss Feeds, but not so much from search engines.

Also, blog portals like http://www.smashingapps.com/ and many others like it will bring you more traffic than search engines speacially if they blog about your contents, heck even if you make comments you'll get more traffic than Google.

I've got a couple of blogs that Google loves, it index within hours of my posting and when I type those title on search box it is already on the first page results, but where's the traffic? Is Google too hyped? Hyped by geeks or did Google hired those Geeks to hyped-up the search engines from the beginning.

I do understand that there are lots of G-Fan and I myself use Google and Gmail, Youtube, but most of it's other products are inferior to the alternative.

Remember this coming years, lets bring down Google, let's place Google where it belongs. Instead of having Google as your Top 5 apps, lets put it on the Top 50.

Lets bring Google down campaign...could we?

Google Wave rhymes with Google Slaves. lol (is Google telling us something?)

Good for you. Check out my posts, I'm not a Google ass kisser myself and out of over million unique readers that my sites get a month, 65% are type ins (bookmarks). I could get banned by Google tomorrow and will go on without problems. I laugh at pathetic Google slaves just the same.

The problem with people like the OP is he's not happy there are thousands of others doing the exact same thing he is and he wants to be in the top 10. It's like blaming someone else because there are only 100 or so billionaires in the world and you want to be one. Well, if you're not on the first few pages of Google then it's because most people don't care about your site and too many others are doing the same thing you are. Don't blame Google for that. Go find something else to do.

Trying to "bring down Google" only means someone else would take their place and do the exact same thing. What else could they do? If a thousand people want to sell ping-pong balls, someone has to be number 1 and someone has to be number 1000. Quit blaming the search engines.

In fact, I doubt the OP sells anything but links and can't make a living off that. Very few do. Go get a real job.

I'm not too sure about the whole "lets bring Google down" thing, but I do know that we are working hard at trying to rank within the Google search engine. We're not slaves, though.

I agree with you 100% and it seem that way, but I want to make a point, that, again, you are right in that, I guess I should have pointed many things to make me not sound like how you said it.

What I really want to say is...Stop! do what you do as a webmaster and focus on great contents and once you have them focus on many other factors that will bring you success, but Google is not it and as you pointed out that there are many of us that are trying to rank for whatever in SERP, but instead of that being the number one focus, it really should be somewhere down at the bottom because the probability of ranking first and getting thousands of traffic from Google or other search engines are just dreams for MOST of us in the REALITY world.

I have fun with SEO-ing, love seeing my title or keywords coming in the first page like most of you, but what I am really trying to say is, if your sites is not CNN.com or bad-ass-sites-that-is-just-too-many-but-not-really-one-of-mine then we really need to focus on the alternative of getting traffic.

I really dint mean to say "Bring Down" Google like how I said it as after all it is a great product, what I really meant to say is, there are something out there that are far better than search engines.

Search engines as I said have many uses and are very usefull, but it is not what is crack-up to be.

If I own a small Flower shop in Seattle and I specialize in the making of
Gourmet Baskets and I deliver World wide, then Search Engines will come in handy, that is if I'm good with SEO and persistent about it, then I will rank pretty good if someone types in those keywords: Flower Gourmet Basket Shop in Seattle. and depending on how I do it and where I place my links and how well I optimize my pages, then surely I will get traffic which could also mean some sales coming my way.

Then again, competition will come in and fucks up everything that you invested time and money and the other sites like yours are ranking better and taking away a potential customer from you. It doesn't end and neither does your campaigned if you want business coming your way. But, again as I said it is not the only way to get traffic for sites like a Flower shop, local directory and yellow pages and linking to blogs that blog about flower and such that will actually bring more traffic to you. Most users do not even know what to type in the search engines and when they type the keywords that you dint even think about but someone who did and spent much less time and money than you did will get some of those traffic as well.

What I am saying is Search engines are not what is crack-up to be, focus less on it, concentrate on other things, the alternative that is out there, promote them, lessen the value of Google because it is too hyped, bring it down in it's place, that's all.

It probably started in April 2006 when I registered, but rather than insulting someone, do you have any constructive thing to say? Because what you just said is kinda dumb on itself.

You can look at it anyway you want:) But I think some of us are just too obsess by it.

You do bring up a good point in that most people seem to think the only possible source of traffic is Google. Many, many people still use other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Ask.com, etc... People don't make a point of visiting Google daily unless they're searching for something, but if they're an active user of a community like DigitalPoint they DO log on to that website daily. You still get people walking into supermarkets and glancing at the corkboards you sometimes see in front. People are still walking to their mailbox and checking their physical mail. Google is indeed one of the modern search engine giants, but it is NOT the be-all and end-all of business leads, traffic sources, and internet marketing.
