Ya, that's what I have been hearing from some people. Their argument being that they are facing much lesser competition after the google slap. Therefore, lesser ad costs and higher profits. Personally, I have suffered some setback. And that seems to be the general opinion across forums. Just wanted to run a poll and see what percentage is actually happy with the slap update.
Got ya, this is the first time I have heard the term, but I am quite aware of the problem. I haven't been happy with the update thus far. I need to sit down and experiment because I have seen an overall increase in costs.
Hi Infonote, This is for people using Adwords. Google recently made some updates regarding landing pages for Adwords ads. Lot of advertisers have been asked to increase bids to as much as $10 to activate their ads - even if they were paying a few cents earlier. This is part of the Google Slap update.

Guys, here's another great resource on the Google Slap. Jim Edwards and Perry Marshall, two great Internet Marketing Gurus, talk about the Google Slap and the way around it in this video. Here's the link: http://www.myonlinevideohosting.com/google-slap/
i think some of the small affiliate players got tanked but i havent seen anything my end in fact my CpC is lower
I got hit HARD when this change came in... Lost 90% of my keywords and about half my sales! But you adapt... Within a week I'd got round the problems one way or another, and it was a good wakeup call that my eggs were in too few baskets. In answer to your question though, I'd say that currently I'm now back to about the same profitability as I was before the slap, but the changes I had to put in place, I expect to pay extra dividends going forward!
My website got hit hard as well, it lost every keyword. Although I believe Google Slap was necessary and well executed, at least it cut the spam and arbitrage. IT
I agree with Dan completely. It's a one time hit, but the serious players will always get back. And the tweaks will only help in the longer run. I am shocked not to see any "slap 'em back" remarks till now. When the update came about, it seemed like everyone across all forums had become Google haters. Looks like the dust has started settling.
To be honest, I do resent the way Google went about this, and I don't see the reason for this layer of secrecy and unpredictability. I used to consider Google one of my favorite companies to work with, and I used to think of PPC advertising as predictable and dependable. Now I no longer trust Google to act in my best interests, and I'm always half expecting to have the rug pulled from under my feet again. I'm still riding the tiger, but I've just realized it's got teeth, so I've put on a bit of protection!
