GOOGLE SITES - a good way to get backlinks of PR7?

    Hi guys,

as you know google has this APP called GOOGLE SITES - http://sites.google.com/

I created a simple page - with links in the content to other sites.

When i look at my PR (using the google PageRank tool in my google toolbar) it says this page has a PR7!

So does anyone know if this will count as a incoming HIGH PR link?

That is likely an error in the toolbar. Sometimes it will show you the domain's homepage PR for an internal page. The page likely has an actual toolbar PR of 0. I think it would help to get any links from google.com, but I don't think it would be the same weight as an actual PR7 link.

You should keep us updated as to how those links help your rankings.

the reason is that those links are no-follow. I checked it out myself and when you try to add links, they end up no-follow. That is why nobody is doing this.

I just checked it too. The PR value for internal pages are zero and it is nofollow. I don't think there is any value contributed to us from this links.

What is the real use when there is no link juice flowing from the Google Sites to the sites built and links provided?

    No use, right!!!

So, none uses them and none advises them to be used. Simple logic.

Good researching chaps and ladies. The same is also true of Googles article directory - Knoll. It's also no follow but that means it bestows no link page rank juice. It doesn't mean the links are worthless.

I'll go with my gut on this one and say that I for one will continue using both Google sites and Knoll along with High PR links etc.

It's a PR7 only if you were logged in to your Gmail or other Google accounts.

I saw this the other day and was wondering if anyone ever used google sites. Since it is no follow, it is pretty much useless.

    Thanks for the info.

There are more search engines than google. It is like any other resource, you get out of it what you want. If you're talking about "PR" then, the nofollow tag makes it useless.

if you build a resource that drives traffic, which in turn converts ... is it useless???? hmmmmmmmm

there are other search engines but the one with the most traffic is google hence the reason why everyone want to rank well on there.

I agree with you cbrooker if its driving traffic its usefull but what are the odds its going to drive decent traffic???
