Google Sitemaps- Errors?

    I just submitted both my sites, sitemaps to Google and they went through, but it says I have errors. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

    It says I have an "Unsupported file format"

    When I submitted my sites I put in the pages I want, which were .html files (ie, /index.html). What was I supposed to do? :confused:

    How did you generate the site map and what tools did you use? Generate the sitemap by using free tools available at sites like http://www.xml-sitemaps.com and submit the sitemap.xml to google through google webmaster tools.

    I was submitting my pages individually, not using any tools to create a sitemap.
