Google sitemaps and SEO

Hello,

Somebody knows how important is have a sitemap of the site for Google SEO?
I will be some positions up in the searches if my site has a sitemap?

sitemap adds to your pages being crawled and maybe showing up in the search results.

However it dooes not add to your pages being ranked better

 

Providing a sitemap just makes it easier for the spiders to find your content. If they can't find the content on your site, they can't rank it.

Sitemap makes GoogleBot job easier and helps you for indexing pages with more frequently.
I suggest you to do both in .xml and .xml.gz formats.

 

Yeah, i always suggest if you have a new website with 1k plus pages to create a sitemap. It will help all or your pages get discovered at a much faster rate. Smaller sites should just let the natural process of spidering occur... this will help you better understand your own linking scheme... and that way, If you're not getting properly indexed you should make changes to your internal linking patterns.

 

using google webmaster tool to build your own sitemap will make your website index more quickly and have your website more friendly to SE.

different sites or softwares provide different sitemaps. So which one should i choose to get the best results?

My site is a small one, 40 plus pages with average traffic.

I've found that although it allows Google to index the pages, that Google takes their own sweet time doing it. I don't count on additional pages being indexed for a week. I use a text editor to create both sitemap.xml and sitemap.html

Sitemaps are great for seo and for search engines. Google spiders will crawl the sitemaps, sitemaps make it able to crawl more pages, find more pages, which will then be indexed on google. If you have a site that is relatively small I would not advise having a sitemap, but if it is a large website, I would tell you to definitely have a sitemap.

Site: your website/blog
Map: the map used in common life.
its helpful to crawlers to go through your site.
