    Sitemap.xml is more better in comparison of sitemap.html.
    In .xml you could indexed you site more effectively. I use sitemap.xml for my website.

    There's a difference between a (usually HTML) site map built to help humans navigate around your site, and an XML Sitemap built for search engines. Both of them are useful, and it's great to have both. A site map on your domain can also help search engines find your content (since crawlers can follow the links on the page). However, if you submit an HTML site map in place of a Sitemap, Webmaster Tools will report an error because an HTML page isn't one of our recognized Sitemap formats. Also, if you create an XML Sitemap, you'll be able to give us more information than you can with an HTML site map (which is just a collection of links).

    as per my point of view ... both sitemap is good because .html sitemap always useful for users and .xml sitemap use full for search engines its help search engine to crawl the whole site in one place .. that is sitemap .

    hello,
    firstly , i want to clarify main difference between .xmt & .html sitemap is one for search engine & other for human . but both are sitemaps . Xml ease to crawl for search engine , on the other hand html sitemap present the easy map of the site .

    Both html and xml sitemap have different task. So both are necessary.
    HTML Sitemap is for website visitors so that they can find all pages on that website if the site is large.
    XML Sitemap is for search engine spiders for better indexing of web pages.
    For website indexing XML sitemap is more important.

    Basically Two Different Site Maps,

    i) XML sitemaps
    XML sitemaps are intended for search engines and helps them index the appropriate pages from that website. They are basically an XML file that has all the pages in the website listed in the appropriate order with the necessary information tagged to it.

    ii) HTML sitemaps
    HTML sitemaps are basically HTML files that have the entire pages of a website listed in the appropriate order with the necessary information tagged to it.

    Both sitemaps are necessary for a website. XML Sitemap fast indexing & HTML sitemap for indexing & User easily navigate to other pages.

    Use both sitemap xml and html site map.....these two site maps are very important. Actually, we can't see xml site map in site's navigation bar but we can see html site map in site navigation bar.
