Last time I read the googlemap's info it said that I needed to install some python thing on my server. Is there any way I can do it without installing it? What exactly is python? Will it interfere in any way with my other sites or do any changes on my server?

You might want to visit the third party tools of G Sitemap protocol. There are a few other choices now.

Python is a scripting language, just like perl or php, but more command line based than php.

Anyways, if you are on a linux server, chances are its already installed. The google sitemap script is a one off script that runs from the command line. It won't effect the rest of the code/templates/anything else on your web site.
