    Hello friends,

I just bought an xml-sitemaps and have question about Google sitemap for SEO.

How often should I run sitemap for new urls or pages?
Do I need to place the html sitemap on the homepage?

    Thanks,

    Have a nice day!

Update it when you create new pages that Google may not find without the sitemap. And you shouldn't need an HTML sitemap at all; but if you decide to use one then every page should link to it.

that usually helps with indexing, not much with serp ranking.
you can automate it to update every day or as you have new pages.

That is so wrong. You still should have a text sitemap to distribute your pagerank. Watch this video from Matt Cutts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hi5DGOu1uA0

Always be careful what you read on these forums ;)

You can update sitemap everytime your website has a new page added. HTML sitemap is not necessary because you already have a sitemap for bots and also useless for human visitors.

Here both sitemap.xml & sitemap.html is used for different purpose.
We use sitemap.xml for Search Engine. And sitemap.html is for user convenience to visit all page linked on site.
So it is better to put link of both sitemap on home page.

all you have to do is submit the sitemap to google. It's one of the first things you should do with any site, it just helps with getting indexed and helps google find the pages on your site.

Sitemap is a very important component in every website. Sitemaps protocol allows a webmaster to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling.

The html sitemap is visible on your website and is for the benefit of people visiting your website. Yes, you should have one.

The xml sitemap is not visible on your website, but is crawled by the search bots where you have your domain hosted. Upload it to your root folder. Resubmit it to the search engines it every time you add a new page.

Also, each time you add a new page, you should submit that to Bing via Bing Webmaster Tools > Configure My Site > Submit URLs. Also submit each new page to Google Webmaster Tools > Crawl > Fetch As Google. And if you have a Google Custom Search box on your website, submit each new page there, too. These things will get you fast indexing (sometimes in just a few minutes) each time you add a new page.
