Google site visit causing host spike

    Just wondered if anybody can throw any light on an issue i'm having every few months http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c visits my site with massive hits that cause a server spike serious enough for my host to stop hosting it.

    Any idea what this site is and if I can block it and further more would block it cause any seo probs?

    Lots of questions, sorry but could really do with some knowledge on this.

    You can block IP's in .htaccess files.

    Yes, i'm aware you cannot open the site in question, it is some kind of Google translation site or crawler, it visits my site every now and then, last time it made 4609 visits in one shot, caused as server spike and forced my server to stop hosting my site to protect others on the server.

    Any body got any idea what this site is and if bloking it will do any harm?
