    just want to know is google site map is usefull for search engine optimization. I have heard something about this but not sure how to use this or how usefull is it.

    i think it is really effective... since when I start to use it, i always get ranked now on google search engine in some keywords.

    you have to place a Sitemap-formatted file on the Web server which enables Google crawlers to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed in order to crawl site accordingly.

    Ya its a helpful one to have Search engine specific sitemap like Google. Being the leader in search engines. It might boost ur search engine rank as well.

    A sitemap does NOT effect your rankings at all, and they are not needed. If you actually "need" a sitemap then you have issues with your site structure and a sitemap is the least of your worries.

    Sitemap make the site easily crawlable especially if the site has many inlinks/pages....

    Sitemap is a big help in crawling and indexing your site especially to sites with more pages.

    other reason why its a big help, it simply because you (your site) helping the spider to easily crawl your pages which turns to quick indexing.
