you have to keep your .xml sitemap file to your root folder. means where your index.html file is located. then you will able to get verified :)

you must have to submit the page which are in root directory, like if you upload sitemap.xml then you have to submit sitemap.xml in webmaster tool, but if you upload sitemap2.xml file then you have to submit for sitemap2.xml link to verify

In webmaster tools, when you submit your sitemap, just put a new sitemap in there and name it sitemap2.xml
It will find only exact names so you might add a new one and name it correctly "!! Hope I copuld help!

you need to go into google webmastertools and submit a new sitemap:

the site map doesn't need to be in the root of your site, it can be anywhere, but you do need to tell google where it is:
in webmastertools go to your site and then go to sitemaps > add / test sitemap.

you can then specify the path and filename for your sitemap file.

you can also put the sitemap location in your robots.txt

you can put your sitemap in public folder and root folder
Another method is you can use BlueFTP or it can copy sitemap.xml in control panel to your directory .
