Google's site:domain.com command seems to not work for most domains. It seems that google have updated the way this is done to match yahoo and others. You now have to use site:http://www.yourdomain.com site:domain.com still works for some domains. Looks like G is in middle of an update. If your site does not show up using the old site command, try the Y way. Just noticed that. It may help someone.
eh? I haven't noticed any difference. Give a better example? Perhaps the domain is banned (ooh, did I scare ya?).
ok i'm a dork - but is that the command to use to see if google has your site indexed? edit nevermind, i just answered my own question
My domains work all three ways in google... site:www.mydomain.com site:mydomain.com site:http://www.mydomain.com
Looks like G did something last night. All the ways to use site command now works. Go figure! G is definitely up to something. Anyone seeing weird and strange happennings with G today?
I've got a new client whose pages all show up with the site: query command, but most do not show descriptions and the cached page copies are gone for all of his pages. He still shows backlinks and a PageRank of 7. This just hapenned about two days ago. Google is doing some weird things. They may have a buggy new algorithm running.
Usually this means a lot of duplicate content (at least in Googles eyes) in my experience. Most times it is following with a total drop in pages indexed.
Read this thread... It will let you know what's been going on recently and why the titles and descriptions might be missing. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=8577
