Here are the facts: -One of my sites is on first page on Google for my keywords. -Yahoo shows aproximately 2000 backlinks for the site, but Google shows NONE Anybody knows the explanation?
Google disabled the link operator several years ago, so that you can't reverse engineer other people's backlink profile. It may show a small sample of backlinks or none at all. That's got absolutely nothing to do with what backlinks they are aware of and using in the algorithm. You can see a better record of your own backlinks after you've registered with Google webmaster tools.
Not sure about that.. Any source of the news? @OP, You can keep track of your Google indexed backlinks in Webmaster Tools, like magda said.
I would always rely on Site explorer to show me correct number of back links followed by WMT. Google has this crazy habit of not showing up all the back links... and so it would be futile to gauge your effort looking at their backlink report! Regards, RightMan
http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/03/25/googles-matt-cutts-answers-link-operator-questions video of Matt Cutts saying that they will only show 'a subsample' and they don't want to show them all because 'spammers or competitors could try to reverse engineer'
If you search with link:www.site.com, google wouldnt show all of them Use google webmaster tools to check it
Actually each and every Search Engine has their owns algorithm. Google will show only Quality relevant backlinks. Yahoo will show each and every backlinks.
As far as i9 know, Google doesn't show all links. You can verify your site in Webmaster Tools and check out the link reports. Note that, although these reports are more comprehensive than a link: query, they may not include 100% of all links that you know about. This is normal and you don't need to worry about it.
Add your website to Google WMT to see more backlinks. But people are right, Yahoo BL! is the most precise tool to see backlinks at the moment.
