Hi Just wanted to mention that google has used my Dmoz Description instead of my Meta Description in the search results.. Has anyone else experienced this?
They often do - if you want them to NOT do that - you have to tell them - like this http://www.google.com/support/webma...uery=description+tag&topic=&type=#preventdmoz
It's not that bizarre- Google places a lot of importance within the DMOZ directory. They account for much SEO effect
Just add this tag in the head section of the index page of your website <meta name=â€robots†content=â€noodpâ€>. Google will start showing the original description you have entered in the meta description.
After adding the noodp tag (assuming to want to get rid of the ODP description), then this will NOT happen Google will revert to uising a snippet of text it draws from around the search keyword on the page. Google rarely uses the meta description (just do any search for any keyword ad look at the results - how many of the descriptions are from the meta description).
