Google showing links to internal pages on domain

Sometimes when doing searches on Google, I'd find some URLs also link to other internal pages on the domain, which is very cool. How does one go about doing this? Is this something to do with Google Sitemaps?

    cheers

quite normal when using IBL's directly to the sub pages rather the domain / home

Just the same that you would need to get your homepage listed... remember, Google indexes pages, not sites

yeah, I figured it out :D

As expat said, you can get any page ranked by getting enough backlinks and doing enough seo on it, it doesn't have to be the homepage

its not an exact sience G never is...
targeting specific key phrases at sub page level that answer this phrase whilst using more generic ones for the hub or index page(s) works well for me.

As one automatically aquires links & references to hub or index page anything from 5 - 50 IBL's to a specific page may do it.

Remember whatever the shifts in algos cover your back so 50 IBL's to a sub page and just 2 to the index or hub page are a bit scewed.....

Any link to any page counts (in the end) and the broader the base the more stable are the results in SERP's and the more likely the whole linking looks "natural".

cheers dude, Im just very curious about this because I think its pretty important. Effectively, you can have like 5 pages on the first page of the SERPs instead of like 2. Do you know when G implemented this, has it been for some time now?

...well only if these would be different domains on different servers etc....
trying more than 2 the content would be to close for comfort for me.... and thus probably for G and others.
