I hear Google is cracking down sites that sell and uses paid links. I find it unethical. Google itself makes billions selling text links on Google site and others using AdWords, Adsense. Its not a fair judge degrading sites based on paid link.

Google Ads are not direct text links and do not pass any PR or SERP value (of course Google Ads do appear on the first page of search results so that part about SERPs isnt exactly correct). They are designed only to generate direct traffic.

If you believe you should be able to make money off of cheating a broken ranking system then you deserve penalization. Manipulation is what its called, and is against the Google TOS.

I would say something regarding the Adwords comment, but the above poster beat me to it.

AdWords is paid service by Google. Thats not part of serps.
My point is, if they can make money by placing ads on their site why not others.

I do agree that using paid links a tool to get high ranking was corrupting the SERPs. But Google itself suggests to get listed on Yahoo Directory.

Yes, I'm not bashing you, just getting fusterated with all these threads. The Yahoo! directory fee is for fast "review", it doesn't mean you will get included in the directory.

They are actually penalizing sites that are selling links for the sole purpose of manipulating the PR and the serps ...
