    Hi,

Im my G settings(webmsetr tools), I'm trying to set up a preffered domain name. I want to set it to www.mysite.com, but when I click on "Save" it says

Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own http://mysite.com/. Please verify http://mysite.com/.

    How can this be done?

    Thanks

In Webmaster tools you need to generate a tag to put on your site, or a page to your server - google sees it and knows that your the person who is responsible for the site. On the first page of it, where your sites are listed, there's a link that says either verified or unverified - click on it and it will give you instructions

webmaster tool will give you a code that you will place on your index file. once you place the code, you verify your site and google checks your site for the code to make sure you own the domain

Ok, Thanks guys. I've done the verification before, I just didn't know that google sees www.mysite and http//mysite as different domains. I've added the http version and everything is good. But I have one more question for you. Is it recommended to set a preffered domain name?

    Regards

yes it is recommended. it will end up hoarding page rank on one domain rather than splitting it evenly between the two. With a higher power rank, you'll rank higher in search results.
