Google SERPs will Kill Discovery

Discussion in 'Google' started by SearchBliss, Dec 5, 2009.

The Google Blog posted yesterday an announcement that they have switched to personalized search results for users who are not signed into Google. These results are determined by the users behavior on a particular machine using cookies.

Let's look at the definition of SEARCH: to uncover or find by examination or exploration

How can one "explore" new information when the results will be based on what the user already knows?

This is a sad day for search...not to mention SEO's.

Google can start to prioritise what you see based on whatever they want!
