Google SERPS shift

I've always been on the first page for google for a number of my keywords for over a year but a week ago, that all changed my index page doesn't come up at all. i've also noticed that there is a lot of movement on the first few pages of results for these keywords for all the other sites that are still there.

My site main index page doesn't seem to be in googles index any more but all my other pages seem to be, so I'm guessing that i've not been pealised as surely all the other pages would have been de indexed too?

I'm not sure whether I sould sit back and wait or build more links, I'm adding a blog post (sub directory) every couple of days but I'm not sure if it's helping.

Has anyone else had their index page de indexed but their sub pages kept, some of the subpages are ranking number 1 for long tail keywords so I'm hoping this is a good sign.

    Any suggestions would help?

    thanks

    Kerrie

Have you faced any hosting problems, maybe the site was down for a while and Google Bot visit it then ??

Other wise get rid of any shady spam technique you are already using, and then request a reconsideration via Google Webmasters Tools... Getting the main domain index out of Google Index is cased usually because of Duplicated Content Issues. Doorway Pages and Cloaking as far as i really know..

Check your website first, to make sure your not breaking any rules and then submit your request..

***Just to add more value to this post which i really think it might solve your problem:
However, if you've done nothing wrong and it's only a ranking problem (Not an Indexing one).. then you might need to check you backlinks.. specially the quality ones to make sure you've not lost any of them ;)

Hope i was clear and helpful, REP is most appreciated ;)

I finally figured out why google no longer had my index page in its search - there was a bug in the ecommerce system I was using meaning that it was putting noindex, nofollow tags in the headers. It's been recitified so I'm hoping everything will be back to normal soon.

    Thanks for your help though.

I was going to say that you check your back links. Good to know that
