Google serps - randomising of results?

I was checking some sites and found that the SERPS poistion changed when repeating the search for the same phrase, often by just clicking on the search button without re entering the search phrase.

This was only happening to the bottom of page 1 results, but I am assuming it will be the same data centre for each search so it was interesting to see.

Anyone else seen something like this?

The search depends on which data center you hit, which could be several in one search.

Google has several different SEPRS going on at any given time. It really can keep you on your toes.

Yes today all my sites have been jumpy, different places in the top 10 nearly everytime I check them. Not sure what is going on.

It is so complex. And big. From time to time it is also giving random sites a chance to show at the top. Just to see if there is any particular interest in this site. Then if there is none. It goes back to its originating place again.

This way relative new sites can go to the top very quick. Often are they using some method that is not liked by google and they are going to be punished and the being more disliked than liked in the long run.

Usually organic listings does not fluctuate after hitting search button... I guess what you are talking about is sponsored listings, there are chances that they may fluctuate

I think this is Google Dancing time. That's why it's happening.

If you're refreshing a search page over and over and getting different results its probably because you don't go to any search result so G is trying to serve you new content trying to find out what is it that you are looking for.. ;)
