Google SERPS? Erratically changing?

Hi guys, the last couple of days i have noticed for a keyword that i am trying to rank on the first page, the results are changing very erratically.

The first page results have been changing a lot over the last few days with the last 5 of the top ten websites changing so much that brand new websites that i have never noticed ranking highly for that keyword have appeared?

Has anyone else noticed this with other keywords, i realise that SERPS change daily however i am just wondering does this conincide with the fact that pagerank will be updating soon?

I have realised 3 or 4 brand new websites ranking in the top 15 websites for the keyword, and they have appeared from no where, 2 of which seem brand new.

I've been observing this for a little while now in the UK. There certainly seems to be a big variation between data centres. I've even had a number one ranking for big keyphrase without any SEO. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have seen it happening for not so popular or long tail keywords. But SERPs for popular keywords do not change much. There are two reasons for these fluctuations - Google updates its index more frequently compared to that in the past. During index updates, the data centers do not receive the new index at the same time. In fact, the new index is transferred to one data center after the other. So all data centers are not synchronized.

Sometimes Google will temporarily give priority to new content, that will eventually drop down the SERPS. My advice is to not spend too much energy on the elusive Google algorithm and concentrate on creating good content and promotion.
