These problems happened and our site traffic dropped 50% on 16th of May. Then, we did some changes as the following... 1) Fix some broken links on the site. 2) Adjust the Googlebot crawl rate. Then on 20th-June, we see the traffic and ranking pages went back normal on track. But unfortunately, there is a drop again on 5th-August. It was 50% traffic dropped and most of our ranking pages for some search terms not on first page now. Does anyone here have the same problem before? What could the casue make our site SERPs drop > normal > drop again situation? Is this so call Google dance or Yo-yoing? Please, any advise on how to resolve these.
Its normal to see SERPs dropping & then coming back to normal. sometimes you will get more hits and sometimes less. I believe its not possible to achieve static position in SERPs because Google keeps on updating its index whenever its crawler discover something new and it changes the index whenever it founds something more informative and useful.
Don't worry about that, it takes some day to get stable after you make change And what you did is good for serp
This last weeks, many sites experienced drop in rankings so it is probably due to algorithm change. Look at those sites on top of your keyword and see what you are missing.
You will occasionally see a drop in both page rank and serps. Don't worry. As long as you are not doing any black hat SEO techniques, just keep updating your content as usual.
