Google serps adjusted to searchers ip?

I haven't been here for a while, put seo out of my mind for a while and just worked on my site. So this may be old news.....

I did a google search using the keywords for my site, found my site on page three, and clicked on the link.

The next day, my site was ranked number 3 for those same key words. Cool!

But after further investigation (by performing the same search through proxies), I find that my link only show up as number 3 for my own searches. If searching through proxies I'm still on the third page. And by my site stats, I can tell I'm not really ranked 3, because I'd be getting a ton more traffic.

I'm not signed on to my google account.

So is google tracking that I clicked on that link, and customizing my search to my ip, giving it a higher ranking since I clicked on that link?

    Or is there another explanation?

    Chris

right, I suggest you to change a browser if you want to get the real data and clear your cookies. Maybe change a computer, I don't know, it is really annoying.

I think this is the effect of Google's personalized search. Just turn it off.

    Google serps always change.
Google datacenter will also affect the serp ranking..
different serp result when searching google.com and google.ca with the same keyword

Also if you have any traffic statistic tools, you can see there if you got clicks from those keywords and if you really rank on top three position or not.

Yes it is google web history saved in your system. Changing web browser or trashing cookies will clear you actual results on google.

Starting in 2010, user browsing behavior will start affecting the SERPS regardless of whether you are logged in to a Google account or not.

That seem to be the default behavior. Unless you turn that off on your preferences your mostly visited sites would show on top. Sort of like a bookmark.
