    Well I feel they keep updating it... yes but the major updates happen in 3-4 months.

    If it could be any longer, I don't think 3 to 4 months is the answers. That's hell of a long time. They continuously giving minute update to SERPs, I have noticed that for some time, at least in my industries.

    Google updates SERP results often, you will notice changes sometimes upto 2-3 times daily.

    i think you got mixed up with Page Rank. SERP updates daily while page rank updates only 3 - 4 months.
