Google SERP, the history and mystery

Google SERP is the place where every one likes to see their websites but before that there is a big hurdle to passout.

One of the important aspect is how Google picks up the query we provide in search box and how it analyse.

    1. First thing i like to say that just don't think you have done any offpage work, just forget about your PR, backlinks and all those work which we usually do to promote the website.

    2. Just look like this all sites are already indexed in Google and based on the content of those website, Google is providing SERP rankings to websites.

Now when we type a query say SEO service provider in UK, Google picks up the query as it is. The main job starts here: suppose there are 100s of sites which provides seo services in uk but all have different keyphrase say, seo services uk, seo in uk, seo company uk etc.

My question is if we take two websites 1 & 2.

    www[.]1[.]com
    www[.]2[.]com

1 have used each individual word (seo, service, provider, UK) numerous times and focused more on content.
2 have used the full keyphrase (seo service provider in Uk) multiple times but have ignored the grammatical errors just for the sake of getting in SERP.

So which one do you think will be picked up by Google.

Is Google takes all the keywords as a single string and run search query or it takes individual words and search each of the word within the text to explore the relevancy.

Both of them are required together. The only choice for ranking high is to use of both of them in your pages.
    Don't select one of them.

The complete keyphrase would be much better in my opinion as Google will get the keyword which it is looking for.

i do agree with that but one thing that hunts me again and again is how the relevancy of keyphrase changes if i insert a preposition line "in or at".

That is how seo services in UK is different from seo services at UK or seo services UK

I think the combination of both will help. Google always love to see the site content being made for humans and not for bots. You need both combination to rank well. Why not have both of it.

Yes. I mean that you can have these two keywords at the same time on your page and you optimize your page for one of them, then its more probable that you get more traffic.

I would also go for the completly keyphrase at the moment, but I think this will have less and less significance as google get's better and better on understanding languages and syntax everyday it seems like.

I dont think google takes into consideration prepositions such as "in" or "at". It just looks at the keywords.

for something as competitive as this, I'd guess that the backlinks would become the determining factor.

If it is so then why the SERP result and number of competitor differs when we insert a preposition in between a keyword.

    For Ex:
keyword1: web development india competitors:36,100,000 results

keyword2: web development in india competitors:37,400,000 results

keyword3: web development at india competitors:33,100,000 results

That's a valid point, but it again forces us to think about offpage and here we are concern about the onpage only. I again raises the key question

Q-> If i have ranked my website in top 10 Google SERP with a keyword say web development in UK, so can i expect that i will also have a good rank with web development UK

i think content is more important then title and other meta but you have to use in title as a keyword

Google focuses more on exact matches as they highly take relevancy in to consideration. Keywords are still required but keyphrases helps, also backlinks can greatly help depending on how they are linked to you using anchor texts as it helps you focus more on your targetted keyphrases.
